Most people think of vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation when they comes to me to improve their English conversation skills. I call these the building blocks of speech, but it’s our mind, body, and heart that I see as the superpowers that shape how we communicate.
1. 🧠 The Mind
Our thoughts and beliefs form the basis of how we interpret and react to situations. So naturally they influence how we approach conversations and express ourselves.
2. 🧍🏻♂️ The Body
Posture, facial expressions, gestures, voice, even our breath all play a huge role in communication. They can say as much as our words – enhancing, diminishing or even confusing our meaning.
3. 🩷 The Heart
The benefits of increasing our emotional and social intelligence include more effective communication, more meaningful connections and dealing with conflict.
🔗 And...they are all connected, strongly influencing how we use language.
I don’t claim to provide a quick fix – this is a lifelong journey, but one so worth taking!
How I can help
I coach my clients to build these powers while they learn the language skills, and the results are surprising. Coachees soon report more relaxed and productive conversations, sometimes without even changing a word!
In my next posts. I’ll dive deeper into the topic and share some of my tips to help build these superpowers. See you soon!
